What’s the name for the set of fancy bottles that are made of glass or crystal or whatnot and have whiskey and other spirits in them? They’re in a lot of movies.

Coke morning, beer at dinner, juice never or whatever you choose……..
Why oak? Why not mesquite or hickory or some other type of wood? How did oak become the "standard" wood used to age the various spirits?
I like them really cold, and I like to store them there because they don’t freeze. But I’m wondering whether it destroys the integrity of the drink?
